The John Templeton Foundation’s podcast, Templeton Ideas, has won a 2024 dotCOMM award.

Announced on July 15, the 2024 dotCOMM awards honor “excellence in web creativity,” with awards given to categories including web design, video creation, and podcasting.

Templeton Ideas received a platinum dotCOMM award in the science category for its episode featuring University of California, Berkeley professor Dacher Keltner.

In this episode, Keltner talks about his recent book: Awe: The New Science of everyday Everyday Wonder and how How it It Can Transform Your Life. He speaks to the relationship of awe to life and death, and recommends how to cultivate a greater sense of awe in our daily lives.

“I would say that the task of life, the task of human evolution, and the task of individual well being is to connect to things that are larger than the self. I think that’s what awe does,”

Keltner said in his interview.  “Find the things in life that give you goosebumps and you’ll be okay.”

Launched in March 2023, the Templeton Ideas podcast is a biweekly interview show about the most awe-inspiring ideas in our world, and the people who investigate them.

Hosted by Thomas Burnett, the Foundation’s Assistant Director of Communications, and produced by Samantha Cocove, the Digital Communications Associate, it has reached over 80,000 downloads.

With 38 episodes released to date, it has featured guests including David Brooks, Gretchen Rubin, Jim Al-Khalili, and Tyler Cowen.
