As winter draws to its long-awaited conclusion, the telltale whispers of early spring signal that it’s time for the joyous celebration of Easter.
The Christian holiday, which celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, falls this year on Sunday, April 17th. Christians traditionally observe the holiday with worship and celebration to mark the end of Lent — a forty-day-long period of penance and sacrifice.
To commemorate Easter this year, we turn to the wise words of our 2013 Templeton Prize Laureate, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu:
"Easter says to us that despite everything to the contrary, his will for us will prevail, love will prevail over hate, justice over injustice and oppression, peace over exploitation and bitterness."
– Archbishop Desmond Tutu
We offer Archbishop Tutu’s message as a beacon of hope and positivity this Easter and for the upcoming spring.
