Wisdom & Practice is a new podcast that explores how listeners can apply generations-old teachings to improve our daily lives. The show seeks to explore a fundamental question: What moves us & how does that shape our way of moving the world? Podcast episodes go deep into conversation with diverse leaders to share how they experience the world and the philosophical & theological traditions they tap into for guidance.
Wisdom & Practice is hosted by Dr. Simran Jeet Singh, Executive Director for the Aspen Institute’s Religion & Society Program (RSP) and author of The Light We Give: How Sikh Wisdom Can Transform Your Life. He is a scholar and historian of religion who has taught multiple traditions in different settings, including Islamic Studies at Trinity University in Texas and Buddhist Histories at Union Seminary in New York City. Dr. Singh’s curiosity about seeking wisdom across various worldviews is sincere, compelling, and captivating.
RSP has focused its work on understanding and sharing how religion can be leveraged to help everyone thrive. The interest in our work and in Dr. Singh’s book speaks to a collective hunger for practical wisdom for our daily lives. This appetite, in combination with the access and platforms we have through the Aspen Institute, will enable us to share this wisdom with a broad and diverse audience. With funding from the John Templeton Foundation, RSP will record and produce a 26-episode season of the podcast.
