The Christian church in America is losing millions of people each year, particularly among the young. The perceived conflict between science and religion, or else between the conclusions of science and specific Christian beliefs, is among the most common reasons cited by those who have walked out the doors of the church and decided not to return.

Christianity Today and BioLogos have established strong reputations and consistent track records when it comes to media content development and thought leadership at the intersection of science and faith. In this proposal, we ask you to support us as we come together to produce a podcast that illuminates -- by showing, not telling -- the way in which science and Christian faith can learn from one another, be inspired by one another, and even join one another on the road to awe and wonder.

Younger generations have not necessarily inherited the religion-science “conflict” narrative. Yet they need to be shown that scientific inquiry can open the pathway to awe, transcendence, and faith. Countless scientists have found faith not only compatible with, but enhanced and enriched by, scientific inquiry. Our podcast will invite listeners into the quintessentially human quest for meaning and understanding, a millennia-old journey of plunging deeply into human questions and finding them illuminated by science, faith, and art.

The project will develop 4 seasons of 8 episodes. These seasons will be released over 24-30 months. We would target a younger audience through hosts, an auditory style, and an interweaving of topics that makes the scientific and theological quest to understand the mind of God engaging and edifying. By reaching this audience, we are confident we will reach older demographics as well.

The podcast will attract hundreds of thousands (potentially millions) of listeners searching for meaning. It will show them how the quest for understanding and the quest for God may be the same quest after all.
