Série Investigação Filosófica: improving knowledge and philosophical competences of Brazilian researchers and students

The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy (SEP) is one of the most important references for the philosopher in the English-speaking world. It is a reliable source of knowledge for the beginner and also a very useful tool for teaching and academic research in philosophy and related areas. The Investigação Filosófica Series (IF Series) aims to make this source of philosophical and scientific knowledge available to every Brazilian student, school teacher, university professor, researcher and every lay person interested in the big questions of science and philosophy. We intend to translate SEP entries, publish them in e-book format and distribute the e-books free of charge, plus 50 printed copies of 16 books of the IF Series to organizers, universities and institutions, such as the Associação Brasileira de Filosofia da Religião (ABFR). In fact, we have already published four e-books of the IF Series: (a) logic, (b) epistemology and philosophy of science, (c) metaphysics, language and mind, and (d) political philosophy. Authorization for these publications and future translations was generously provided by Prof. Zalta. We plan to publish 16 more e-books covering all central areas of philosophy and many relevant topics in theology, biology, economics, and mathematics. The IF Series should certainly have an enormous impact on the academic community and open the path to the development of new ideas and a Brazilian point of view on the big questions.
