Pathfinder International is pleased to submit the following Online Funding Inquiry to the John Templeton Foundation to support family planning in Burkina Faso, in Francophone West Africa. We respectfully request $175,000 over one year to expand Pathfinder’s recently launched adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health (AYSRH) program. This project will capitalize on the current momentum around sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and family planning (FP) in the West Africa region to address poor SRH among young married women (aged 10-24). Specifically, these funds will help Pathfinder support community groups, which empower and assist young women to develop a social network and support system, and offer an opportunity for them to receive information about healthy timing and spacing of pregnancies (HTSP) and linkages with family planning services.
Pathfinder is widely regarded for our ability to design and implement effective programs—especially training health care workers and building culturally adapted community-based programs. We have worked on AYSRH issues in more than 20 countries. Pathfinder’s solid reputation in the field has led to opportunities to collaborate with a wide range of global partners, networks, and alliances.
