Science for the Church seeks to strengthen American churches through engagement with science. Launched in the late fall of 2019, we seek a 24-month, $261,395 grant, towards a $411,295 project, to help expand the impact of our work through the following activities: maintaining our weekly newsletter, producing daily social media posts with resources to help the church navigate relevant science, collating resources on our website, co-producing at least 8 events for church or church leader audiences, offering consultation to 12 churches or ministries each year, and an ongoing fundraising campaign.
We pursue these activities as we establish Science for the Church as a resource for the American church, one that is financially sustainable, referenced in leading media such as Christianity Today or Christian Century among others, co-hosting Christian leaders for events around the country (attended by at least 750 persons), and with a growing audience for our newsletter (2,000 new), website (2,400 per month), and social media (3,000 new). These are incremental steps towards our grand vision of a day when it is commonplace for pastors and churches and campus ministries to reference science, to leverage its practices and findings, and to see engagement with science and scientists as something beneficial for the church.
