In the changing contemporary landscape of education and social media it remains pivotal to adapt our educational religious sources to the preferences and customs of the youth in order to invoke that same interest and affection towards the religious intellectual tradition. The aim of the project is to distill the main tenants and spirit of Sunni intellectual and confessional theological history into a popular narrative which guides the average student through the development of Islamic metaphysics, epistemology and ontology. At the same time, the project seeks to present Islamic perspectives on the Big Questions, urge critical self-reflection, and provide a holistic sense of the directions and stances within Islamic Intellectual history concerning the cardinal and theological virtues.
This popular narrative will then be transformed into a series of graphic novels to suit the trend of educational graphic novels on the market. To achieve this, we intend to make use of an international network of professionals in the public and academic sphere in order to commission essays that are question-oriented. This network will also be invited to participate in two closed workshops/consultation rounds in order to streamline the question-oriented monographs to fit the curriculum and syllabus requirements of religious educational centers, mosques and weekend schools. These question-oriented monographs will be edited and transformed into teacher handbooks to complement the graphic novels as a primary resource for teachers, and imams who wish to engage with the graphic novels in front of their classrooms in a deeper sense. All materials will be distributed through international distribution channels at cost to ensure widespread accessibility and availability.
