Recent Partners

The Pew-Templeton Global Religious Futures project is a jointly-funded effort between The Pew Charitable Trusts and the John Templeton Foundation to analyze religious change and its effects on societies around the world. The data include characteristics of the populations of 234 countries and territories as of 2010, as well as projections through 2050.

In consultation with leading experts in character education research and with support from the John Templeton Foundation and the Bezos Family Foundation, Common Sense Media launched a tool to evaluate the character education content in visual and digital media, including a comprehensive film catalogue. Parents, consumers, and educators can discover visual and digital media content that promotes specific skills such as forgiveness, grit, gratitude, and resilience.

With support from the John Templeton Foundation, the Synergos Institute created an affinity group within its Global Philanthropists Circle to raise consciousness of how faith, love, compassion, purpose, altruism, ethics and creativity can better society. The Circle is a network of 100+ leading philanthropic individuals and families from around the world. A second phase project is now underway with further support from the Fetzer Institute.

The John Templeton Foundation is a member of the Grantmakers for Thriving Youth, a group of 15 private foundations committed to sharing information and resources to promote positive outcomes for youth. We are particularly interested in identifying collaborative projects on measurement, parenting, and partnerships with faith-based organizations that promote virtues such as empathy and gratitude.

In the Fall of 2015, Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama released their co-authored book, The Book of Joy. Partnering with the Omidyar Group, the John Templeton Foundation supported a broad social marketing campaign to bring awareness to the book and to develop practical resources to enhance the daily practices that facilitate a joyful life.

Religious communities often face the difficulty of negotiating apparent challenges to faith that arise from science. In partnership with the Issachar Fund, the John Templeton Foundation has provided continuing support for The BioLogos Foundation, an organization exploring the harmony of evolutionary biology and the Christian faith.
