Recently, there has been growing interest among philosophers in moral phenomenology, a cross-disciplinary field of study concerned with the subjective character of people's moral experience. However, there has not been a book-length study of moral phenomenology that makes contact with recent work in ethics, philosophy of mind, and moral psychology. The goal of this project is produce such a book that will explore the significance of the character of people's moral experiences as they bear in particular on philosophical questions, including questions about moral objectivity and the role of moral emotions in a life of virtue and wisdom. The project will also include a conference that will be streamed live and feature prominent philosophers and psychologists discussing issues relating to the book. The expected outcome is that the book and the conference will not only stimulate interest in moral phenomenology but will set the agenda for future work in the area.
