Our Team

Dr. Jill Sideman is a graduate of Wilson College with a B.A in Chemistry and Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Physical and Inorganic Chemistry from Bryn Mawr College. Dr. Sideman had post-doctoral fellowships at the National Bureau of Standards, the National Institutes of Health, the Institute Pasteur in Paris, and the University of Washington.

Dr. Sideman was the founder and president of Shapiro and Associates in Seattle, Washington, one of the first environmental consulting firms in Washington State. She also founded TRS Consultants in San Francisco, CA. Dr. Sideman joined CH2M HILL, a global engineering and operations firm, in 1986 and worked in many different positions in that firm for 28 years. Her major clients included Chevron Corporation and NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. Dr. Sideman was the president of the National Association for Women in Science and was on the National Commission for the Advancement of Women and Minorities in STEM disciplines. She recently received the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award from President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. for her long volunteer service on the National Parks Service Horse Patrol in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area in California.

Dr. Sideman is the granddaughter of Vella Handly Templeton and Harvey Maxwell Templeton, Sir John Templeton’s mother and father, and is the Chair of the Finance Committee for John Templeton Foundation. She is a Member of the John Templeton Foundation and Templeton World Charity Foundation, Inc., and a Member of the Board of Advisors of Templeton Religion Trust.
