There are two goals for the proposal: a) To create a resource website that collects online videos on the topic of Islam and Science, and categorize them by topics, and b) To provide a preliminary assessment of each video for its content relating to science, religion, and history.
These tasks will be led by a post-doctorate fellow, who will work with a team of undergraduates to collect the videos, and with a team of advisors (experts in respective fields of science, religion, and history) to develop a transparent and accessible evaluation scheme.
The project idea is inspired by websites like Snopes.com and Rottentomatoes.com, but, to our knowledge, this may be one of the first attempts for evaluating intellectual content in online videos. In an age of abundant information, such a website will allow a quick access to the desired videos related to Islam and Science.
