With the support of the John Templeton Foundation, we built the infrastructure for a free-to-access, online Encyclopedia of Theology, began populating its Christian section, and created prototypes for Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic, and Jewish sections. We are furthermore building partnerships with institutions of theological scholarship, which will support the Encyclopaedia’s growth in multiple traditions. In the next phase of this project, we will
a) maintain and develop the Encyclopedia’s general technical and intellectual framework,
b) work with our partners from various traditions to develop and expand prototype groups of interrelated articles expounding internal viewpoints on coherent traditions,
c) work with our partners to obtain funding to turn our prototypes into financially sustainably full sections,
d) continue to receive, peer review, edit, and publish articles commissioned in earlier phases, and
e) promote the use of the Encyclopedia across its potential audiences.
