We propose a global research and engagement project for Equipping Christian Leadership in an Age of Science (ECLAS). Building on previous successful phases, the new project would integrate five strands (research, Senior Leadership Conferences, Scientists in Congregations awards, Science for Seminaries awards, and policy work), further developing science-engaged theology in the UK and seeding four new centres of work around the world, with a focus on areas where this discussion has not been developed before.
Strand A: Research on Science-Engaged Theology in Context

A3. Frameworks for science-engagement in different contexts (Theology)
Strand B: Senior Leadership Conferences (5 in person and 10 international on-line conferences)
Strand C: Scientists in Congregations Awards (3 cohorts of 8 in the UK, 4 pilot international cohorts through our partner hubs, 1 pilot group of projects in Black majority churches, 1 pilot project with Taizé)
Strand D: Science for Seminaries Awards (8 in the UK and 4 pilot programmes through our partner hubs)
Strand E: Lessons from Positive Church-Science Interactions for Apologetics, Policy and Science
These activities will respond to the question of ‘How does context give challenges and opportunities for equipping Christian Leadership in an Age of Science?’ In doing this they will foster regional hubs and develop locally effective tools for catalysing cultural change in the public engagement of churches with science and technology. The project will plant seeds of new science-engaged theology and create global networks of learning and practice. The resources of greater spiritual information and models of public engagement will benefit the world-wide church.
