Images have the power to elicit emotions, to teach, and to compel action in ways that words alone do not. And, increasingly, video is in the palm of our hands, wherever we go, easy to share at the tap of a button. Online videos accounted for 73 percent of all Internet traffic in 2016, and that figure is expected to rise to 82 percent over the next four years.

In this shifting media landscape, it’s essential that high-quality online content on character virtues keeps pace. Indeed, a combination of audience surveys, media trends, and internal strategy tells us that video presents an enormously promising opportunity for the GGSC to advance our mission to share the “science of a meaningful life” with a wide—and growing—audience. We are committed to investing in video as a complement to our existing array of resources so we can reach more people, in more powerful ways, than ever before.

That is why we are proposing to produce a series of research-based videos on character virtues—especially “relational” virtues like generosity, love, and forgiveness—that are optimized for social media and mobile devices, along with at least one ground-breaking video that takes advantage of 360 degree and virtual reality (VR) video technology.
