This project examines the connection between various components of religion/spirituality and health and longevity. This relationship is investigated by linking respondents from the 1978-2002 General Social Surveys to the National Death Index. Multivariate models will distinguish what aspects of religion/spirituality contribute to better health and longer life expectancy and whether these are independent predictors controlling for a wide range of socio-demographics and other non-religious/spiritual factors.
