"Science and Religion in Spanish Schools" aims to study main educational problems in high schools of Spain related to the big questions in science and religion. Whereas the topic of science and religion is increasingly present in Spanish academia, it has not been yet properly addressed in preparatory schools, when many students form their basic intellectual approaches on the big questions about the universe, life, and man.
We wish to obtain a map of the most pressing pedagogical issues when giving instruction in matters where science and religion are intertwined. In doing this, we hope to find out new teaching narratives that may foster lasting worldviews in which science and religion complement their own perspectives. We plan to create a permanent cluster group of high school teachers and university professors who periodically discuss on specific educational and scientific issues and are eventually able to prepare new materials for science and religion courses in Spanish high schools.
The project will be open to any school wishing to improve its students’ training on science and religion. In the near future, it is our hope to change the general perception on science and religion in the Spanish-speaking world by tackling the problems at their educational roots.
